ANNOUNCEMENT

RECRUITMENT OF IRRIGATION WATER WARDENS

Fixed-Term Employment Contracts

Having regard to:

  1. The provisions of Law 1069/1980 concerning the establishment and operation of Municipal Water Supply and Sewerage Enterprises (DEYA).
  2. The provisions of Royal Decree 28.3/15.4.1957 “On the Supervision of Irrigation Waters” (Government Gazette 60/A), as in force.
  3. The provisions of Article 94 of Law 4483/2017, according to which the recruitment of irrigation water wardens by Municipal Water Supply and Sewerage Enterprises (DEYA) is carried out in accordance with Royal Decree 28.3/15.4.1957 (Government Gazette 60/A), without requiring approval from the Committee established by Cabinet Act 33/2006 or any other authority and by way of derogation from the provisions of Law 2190/1994.
  4. The provisions of paragraph 5 of Article 58 of Law 3966/1994, whereby irrigation water wardens are included among the exemptions of Law 3812/2009.
  5. Circular No. 33 of the Ministry of Interior (Protocol No. 39456/17.11.2017) regarding the implementation of the provisions of Law 4483/2017.
  6. Certification of Available Credits No. 1522/09.06.2026 issued by the Head of Financial Management.
  7. Decision No. 62/2026 (ADA: ΨΩΩΙΟΕ5Ρ-ΩΔΛ) of the Board of Directors of DEYAM.

Announces

The recruitment, under fixed-term private law employment contracts, of two (2) persons in the Municipal Unit of Petalidi, Municipality of Messini, for the year 2026.

The recruitment is deemed necessary in order to immediately cover the needs for the distribution of irrigation water to farmers within the above Municipal Units and Local Communities.

The irrigation period is defined from 01/07/2026 to 31/12/2026.

Required Qualifications

To be selected as an Irrigation Water Warden, an applicant must:

a. Be a Greek citizen.

b. Have completed the 23rd year of age and not exceeded the 60th year of age.

c. Be able to read and write.

The following persons cannot be selected as Water Wardens:

Persons convicted of offenses resulting in deprivation of eligibility for appointment as a public servant, for as long as such deprivation remains in force.

Required Supporting Documents

Each applicant is entitled to submit only one (1) application for one (1) Water Warden position.

The following documents must accompany the application:

  1. Family Status Certificate and registration certificate from the Male Registry, indicating the applicant’s date of birth.
  2. Photocopy of the Police Identity Card.
  3. Social Security Registration Number (IKA/e-EFKA) from an official document.
  4. AMKA (Social Security Number) certificate from an official document.
  5. Photocopy of the latest Tax Clearance/Assessment Notice.
  6. Tax Identification Number (AFM).

Additional documents to be submitted upon selection:

  1. Criminal Record Certificate.
  2. Photocopy of a Piraeus Bank account statement or document showing the selected applicant as the primary account holder.

Selection and appointment may take place prior to the submission of the above certificates, provided that the applicant submits a solemn declaration stating that all qualifications and conditions for appointment are met. The appointed person is obliged to submit the required documents within a reasonable period following appointment; otherwise, employment shall be terminated without any further procedure or compensation. Such period may not exceed thirty (30) days from notification of the appointment.

Selection of Water Wardens

The Water Warden shall be selected by the Board of Directors of DEYAM.

The appointment of Water Wardens applies only for the duration of the irrigation period specified above.

The remuneration of the selected Water Wardens shall be determined in accordance with the provisions of Law 4354/2015.

Duties of Water Wardens

(According to Royal Decree 28.3/15.4.1957, Government Gazette 60/A, “On the Supervision of Irrigation Waters”)

In particular, their duties include:

a) Supervising the proper flow of irrigation water and distributing it in accordance with the applicable irrigation regulations or, where no regulations exist, according to prevailing conditions and the established irrigation schedule.

b) Ensuring the proper collection and conveyance of irrigation water and supervising its flow through irrigation channels until delivery to each irrigated property.

c) Guarding and protecting all types of irrigation works and ensuring their proper maintenance.

d) Monitoring compliance with regulations issued by competent authorities, councils, or committees concerning the distribution of irrigation water, the execution or maintenance of irrigation works, and the cleanliness and hygiene of water resources.

e) Reporting and documenting offenses related to the above matters.

Publication of the Announcement

This announcement shall be published by the President at least seven (7) days prior to the selection date, through posting on the DEYAM notice board, publication on the DEYAM website (www.deyamessinis.gr), and on the official transparency portal (DIAVGEIA) at //et.diavgeia.gov.gr.

Submission of Applications

Applications may be submitted from 23/06/2026 until 29/06/2026 at the Central Offices of DEYAM (Protocol Department).
